Way to go, Lyft! They launched their new feature, Women+ Connect, to help both women/nonbinary riders and drivers feel safer while slaying the streets on their way to or from a night out on the town. We've all had our fair share of, how can we put it nicely, uncomfortable experiences with men in professional settings, and Lyft is saying no more to that. No more catcalling, no more awkward advances while waiting for your driver to drop you off, you can feel safe and secure with a driver more suited to your preferences!
A lot of men are reacting poorly to this, crying "discrimination", but all we have to say to them is that if you didn't make it so uncomfortable in the first place, we wouldn't need this as a safety feature. Just saying. We're not saying all male drivers or riders are bad, but there have been enough instances for a need for this feature. We're happy. to see that people are using this and feeling safer because, in the end, everyone should be able to ride with a sense of security.
